SportWorks TALKS – #TECH series
Mega events are becoming too large, too complex and too costly and this discourages potential candidates for future host cities. Commonwealth Sport is applying lessons learned from past events to reduce the risk of delivery and help make future Commonwealth Game more affordable and efficient. Birmingham 2022 is the opportunity to apply those lessons to change the technology template.
Adrian Corcoran is CIO for Birmingham 2022, which encompasses the technology services and broadcast operations needed to support planning and delivery of the Commonwealth Games across all venues and to distribute the results, digital, TV and radio feeds to a global audience. Adrian worked for the BBC for 22 years, before joining London 2012 as Head of Venue Technology. He then continued to work in sports events, including the Baku 2015 European Games, the 2015 Rugby World Cup, the Islamic Solidarity Games 2017, the Los Angeles 2024/28 bid team and the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow.Recommend0 recommendationsPublished in
