“Reimagining Sport: Pathways to gender-equal media coverage” – Elsa Arapi & Glen Killane

Statistics from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization show that while 40% of all sports participants are women, they receive only 4% of all sports media coverage. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is taking the reins and charting a path forward for more equitable coverage, starting with the Women’s Sport Initiative launched in October 2019. Their next project is Reimagining Sport: Pathways to gender-equal media coverage, a publication which will serve as a blueprint for achieving gender balance in sports media coverage.

Elsa Arapi, Women’s Sport Initiative lead at the EBU and Glen Killane, Executive Director of Eurovision Sport come to SportWorksTALK to discuss these initiatives and what organizations can do to level the sports media playing field.
