“Building a parasport in house” – Chakir Chelbat & Olof Hansson

Taekwondo – with its variety of disciplines and categories – is an inclusive sport. It does not see ethnicity, race, gender, age and has been a key part of the Olympics for a long time. World Taekwondo has now taken on another challenge. Over the past few years, the world governing body of Taekwondo has strived to include para sports into its existing structures.

Working endlessly to achieve Paralympic status, Para Taekwondo is now set to feature at Tokyo 2020 at beyond. Join us for this SportWorks TALK with Olof Hansson and Chakir Chelbat, key members of the Para Committee at World Taekwondo. They discuss the vision, mission, the path, and challenges along that they faced in bringing Para Taekwondo to the fore, combined with what Federations can do to begin their own Para sport journeys.
