Back in 2016, World Sailing embarked on a journey of repositioning themselves, that placed sustainability at its core. Right from the name to every little detail, the International Federation for Sailing – inspired by the unique relationship between sport, technology, and nature – began a process to maximise the positive effects of the sailing community.
Watch this SportWorks TALK with Dan Reading, Head of Sustainability at World Sailing, as he walks us through how the Federation built an award-winning setup. Starting from a sustainability commission and governed by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), World Sailing setup strategic partnerships with Paris 2024, the UN Environment Programme, and many others. This helped them to scale up to ensure sustainability of their own events, while producing resources for wider circulation. The example of World Sailing sets a great blueprint for the future and suggest guidelines that can inspire other sports institutions to develop their own sustainability strategies.Recommend0 recommendationsPublished in
